Objectives: Getting the student familiar with the effect of the water vertical stratification on the water motion in the seas and oceans.
Contents: Layered models – Stratified geostrophic dynamics – Upwelling – Quasi-Geostrophic dynamics – Baroclinic instability – Fronts, Jets and Vortices.
Practical: Stability Calculation – Vorticity Calculations.
