Objectives: Getting the student familiar with the principles of remote sensing and its various applications in the field of physical oceanography.
Contents: Concept of remote sensing – History of remote sensing – Physics of remote sensing – Satellite platform system – Image processing – Satellites for marine applications.
Practical: Satellite image displaying – Histograms and scatter plots – Filtering and noise removal – Image enhancements by linear and non-linear techniques.
