Objectives: Getting the student familiar with the physical processes occurring in the near-shore area and the various consequent effects.
Contents: Physical factors controlling sediment movements – Beach nomenclature – Sediment movements by currents and waves – Longshore currents and Rip currents – Sediment transport in tidal flats – Eastuarine Circulation and its sediment transport effects.
